PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for starting a non-telephone terminal in a mobile communication system, that can simply make settings for non- telephone communication to conduct the non-phone communication in the case of conducting the non-telephone communication employing the non-telephone terminal. SOLUTION: The task above is solved by the method for starting a non- telephone terminal to discriminate a type of non-telephone terminal on the basis of a prescribed signal outputted from an external terminal before the external terminal transmits the non-phone information to a mobile unit in the non-telephone terminal start method that discriminates the type of the non- telephone information to be provided from the external terminal to the mobile unit and allows the mobile unit to start transmission of the non-telephone information from the external terminal as a transmission terminal of the non- telephone information from the external terminal.
