SUBSTANCE: in a method of preparing polymeric clay drilling mud stabilizer involving preparation of water-alkali suspension by mixing polyacrylates, 11-24% with water-soluble humates, 40-45% and alkaline agent, up to 100%, followed by drying of suspension, organometallic polyelectrolyte (ferro-, chromo-, or ferrochromolignosulfonates, 35-42%) is also added to suspension and the latter is activated by cavitation-assisted dispersion, which is started either when the components are being mixed or after addition of organometallic polyelectrolyte. Method is applicable for treating drilling muds under different mining and geological conditions. EFFECT: increased resistance of polymeric stabilizer to action of polyvalent metal salts in drilling muds, including lime and gypsum-lime ones. 2 cl, 4 tbl
