PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television camera, having a motion detection function with reduced power consumption and a longer service life by obtaining a video signal output only for a period, when motion is detected within an imaging video signal. SOLUTION: The television camera has a means that stops supply of power to prescribed circuits in the television camera for a period when no motion is detected in the image pickup video signal, and outputs a video signal only for a period when a motion is detected in the image pickup video signal.
