PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a retainer transferred smoothly by eliminating hooking to a terminal fitting. SOLUTION: A pair of an elastic locking part 33 and a fixed locking part 35 are formed for each cavity 23 at a retainer 30. The elastic locking part has a width of about 1.5 times the cavity 23, and its tip edge 33A is made slanted backward from the left edge to the right edge looked at from the front. At a proper locking position, the right end of the tip edge 33A is located toward rear of the center part of a locked protrusion 15 of a female side terminal fitting 10, so that, at time of return to a temporary locking position, the right end of the tip edge 33A has the danger of getting hooked from inside on a right edge of the locked protrusion 15. But, a part protruding further forward than the right end of the tip edge 33A contacts a left edge of the locked protrusion 15, and is guided by a slanted tip edge 33A to let loose forward the female side terminal fitting with the movement of the retainer 30, which is how the right end of the tip edge 33A is prevented from hooking on the right edge of the locked protrusion 15.
