PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical information reproducing and recording device capable of reproducing the data of an optical recording medium or recording the data to the optical recording medium without the need for a guide projection part or the like on the optical recording medium even when the shape or diameter of the optical recording medium is nonstandardized. SOLUTION: On the tray 2 of this optical information reproducing and recording device, a standard holding recessed part 5 having the circular holding recessed part of depth 5 mm is formed so as to hold the CD of 12 cm and the holding recessed part 6 in a recessed shape is formed further inside the holding recessed part 5. The holding recessed part 6 can hold the CD whose diameter is 10 cm and can also hold a general credit card type medium. Inside the holding recessed part 6, the holding recessed part 7 of the depth of about 1 mm is provided. The holding recessed part 7 has the standard circular holding recessed part capable of holding the CD whose diameter is 8 cm and the single CD of the diameter of 8 cm is held on the tray by the recessed part.
