PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital music recorder in which a recording is conducted for audio signals consuming a little power without greatly deteriorating tone quality regardless of the nature of the audio signals, i.e., whether the signals are voice or music. SOLUTION: A controller 5 detects the operations of MODE keys and switches compression software of a signal processor 4. The processor 4 executes the compression software switched by the controller 5 to compress digital signals converted by an AD converter 3. The compressed data are recorded in a semiconductor memory 6. Thus, digital signals are compressed with a compression system that is suitable for the compression of either music or voice. A recording therefore is conducted at a low power consumption level without greatly degrading the tone quality. |
