PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems of deterioration of the performance and shortening of the life of a secondary battery, if the secondary battery is overcharged exceeding a specified voltage, or is overdischarged up to below a specified voltage, though a specific cell becomes overcharged or overdischarged if the voltage of each battery cell diminishes uniformly, in the case of a power device composed by connecting a plurality of secondary batteries in series, for example a battery closest to full charging out of the plurality of batteries becomes overcharged first, when they are charged, and a battery closest to empty charging out of the plurality of batteries becomes overdischarged first, when they are discharged. SOLUTION: This is a power device which is composed by connecting a plurality of secondary batteries in series and supplies power to an objective apparatus, and is fitted with a means which connects the secondary batteries in parallel when power is not supplied to the apparatus.
