PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the effects of machined traces, for giving residual strain by machining formed on the backside of a magnetic head, on twist as much as possible in the floating magnetic head. SOLUTION: In the floating type magnetic head, the directions of machining traces formed by polishing given to the entire backside, being a surface opposite a floating surface, reverse to a magnetic disk are linearly aligned roughly along the longitudinal direction of the magnetic head or a direction orthogonal thereto.
