PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader, capable of effectively preventing the formation of a composite image of images on the front and the near faces without complicating the reader configuration or considerably increasing its cost. SOLUTION: This image reader is provided with original feed means (2, 3 and 4) for feeding an original 1, an original pressing member 5, for pressing the original 1 under feeding by the original feeding means in a prescribed reading area, while having a plurality of background color parts of different concentrations in a pressing portion 5A thereof, and an optical image reading part 9 for reading the image of the original 1 under feeding by the original feeding means and varying the reading position in the prescribed reading area, and by carriage moving of the optical image reading part 9, the background color at the image reading position is switched. |
