PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a label for a metal can which can give superior decoration of the appearance, which can be firmly fixed to the outer surface of the cylinder of a metal can, and which does not produce voids or wrinkles even when the metal can is subjected to severe drawing. SOLUTION: The label for a metal can has a heat-resistant transparent label base material, an adhesive layer consisting of a thermosetting resin and a printed layer formed between the transparent label base material and the adhesive layer, and the label is to be adhered by heating to a metal can. The 180 deg. peeling strength between the transparent base material and the printed layer (under the conditions of 200 mm/minute peeling speed and 15 mm width) is >=4.9 N. An anchor coat layer may be formed between the transparent label base material and the printed layer. Or the printed layer side of the transparent label base material may be treated by N2 purge corona discharge.
