PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-mounted quartz oscillator and its manufacturing method, by which the quartz oscillator can be easily measured alone and its downsizing is promoted. SOLUTION: A quartz piece is housed in the bottom of a depression of one major surface of a case for surface-mounting, and a circuit device is provided in the bottom of its other major surface and is electrically connected to at least one of exciting electrodes of the quartz piece; a terminal electrode, whose area is S1 of the circuit device, is formed in the bottom of the other major surface of the case for surface- mounting and is electrically connected to the exciting electrode of the quartz; the area of a terminal-connected electrode to be connected to mounted electrode of the circuit device is S2; and in case, the area ratio S2/S1 between the area S1 of the terminal electrode and the area S2 of the terminal-connected electrode is set to 1.8 or larger. The terminal-connected electrode is also used as a quartz measuring terminal. Also, the circuit device is a temperature compensating device for compensating the frequency/temperature characteristics of the oscillating circuit. Furthermore, after the characteristic of the quartz piece has been measured by the quartz measuring terminal, the circuit device is connected to the terminal-connected electrode.
