<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate powerful 2-D and 3-D graphics and surround sound by means of a graphic system which includes a graphic and sound processor used for specific applications. SOLUTION: This system includes the graphic and sound processor including a 3-D graphic pipeline, and a sound digital signal processor. The graphic pipeline, capable of recomposing, includes a hidden surface elimination stage. This stage may be disposed at different positions in the pipeline depending on drawing modes of the pipeline. When the pipeline is actuated in a specified drawing mode, the hidden surface elimination process can be executed at an early stage in the pipeline. Waste of time for imaging of a hidden surface by the pipeline can thus be avoided. For another drawing mode (based onα, for example), the hidden surface elimination process is executed close to the end of the pipeline, and by that time, the pipeline has generated information demanded by the specific drawing mode to be sufficient for interpreting depth comparison.</p> |
