Transgenic animal cell expressing human Fc receptor and humanized immunoglobulin, useful e.g. in screening compounds for antiallergic activity

Transgenic, non-human animal cells (A) express at least one nucleic acid (I) encoding at least one chain (II) of the human receptor for the Fc immunoglobulin (Ig) fragment and a sequence (Ia) encoding the heavy chain (IIa) of an Ig of which at least all or part of Fc is of human origin. The new feature is that the animal gene encoding the chain homologous with (II) is inactivated. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) transgenic, non-human animals containing at least one (A); in vitro or in vivo methods for detecting an allergen and/or determining its allergic potential; and (2) method of screening compounds that modulate the immediate hypersensitivity response (IHR) and/or inflammation in humans.
