PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plane-shaped array antenna formed by using a microstrip line or the like on a dielectric substrate capable of reducing unwanted radiation from the antenna to the internal direction of the dielectric substrate using an inexpensive and simple means. SOLUTION: An open system line such as a microstrip line is used for a feeder, and a radiating antenna element which conducts radiation is obtained as a sealed closed structure. This closed structure is formed of a ground face at the lower part of eh dielectric substrate, a conductor pattern on the dielectric substrate, and a VIA hole for performing the short-circuit connection of them. A compact and thinλ/4 resonator, whose one face is opened and whose other face is short-circuited, is constituted of the inside of the closed structure with respect to a direction horizontal to the substrate. The radiation from the antenna element is operated from a slot-shaped opening formed at the conductor pattern.
