PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder that can accurately detect still image data. SOLUTION: The recorder is configured to have a 1st still image recording mode where still image data are recorded on n (n is an integer of 1 or over) tracks per one frame for a 1st prescribed period in response to a still image recording instruction and a 2nd still image recording mode where still image data are recorded on m (m>n) tracks per one frame for a 2nd prescribed period longer than the 1st prescribed period in response to the still image recording instruction.
