PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing unit that properly detects a linear pattern from an input image with poor contrast to apply binary processing to the image. SOLUTION: The image processing unit receives a multi-value image, converted from a color image or a black/white image or the like and a crushing touch binary image generating means 10 generates a crushing touch binary image that contains a tending to crushing touch linear pattern and no background noise. Furthermore, a shape storage binary image generating means 11 stores the shape of the linear pattern and generates a binary image, including the background noise. A binary image compositing means 12 applies AND compositing to the image by each pixel to generate a binary image which does not include the background noise, while preserving the shape of the linear pattern. |
