PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cold cathode electron source with a wide electron emitting area capable of providing a highly dense heavy-current. SOLUTION: The cold cathode electron source emits electrons in vacuum and it is provided with an electron emitting part 3 having a wall part 3b protruding perpendicularly from a plate-like bottom 3a, an insulation part 2 formed on an end part of the wall part 3b, and a conductive part 1 formed on the insulation part 2.
