PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic device that can reproduce the contents of data recorded in a standardized file format during recording in a manner of random access with a simple configuration and to provide a video recording and reproducing method. SOLUTION: A data recording processing means 12 adopting a format A converts data acquired by a data acquisition section 11 into data (FAD) adopting a format common to a plurality of devices or a recording format of the standard specification not reproducible during recording and records the data to a file generating area of a data recording section 14. A data recording processing means 13 adopting a format B converts data acquired by the data acquisition section 11 into data (FBD) adopting a recording format specific to a particular device or a particular recording format not reproducible during recording and records the resultant data to a temporary storage area of the data recording section 14.
