The invention relates to a coating composition comprising a phosphatized polyester and a crosslinker, wherein the phosphatized polyester is a phosphatized aliphatic polyester with an acid number lower than 20 mg KOH/g polyester or a phosphatized aromatic polyester with an acid number lower than 10 mg KOH/g polyester and a number average molecular weight (Mn) >/= 1700. The invention also relates to the use of such a coating composition and it further relates to the coating obtained by curing the coating composition and to a coated substrate. The invention further relates to a process for coating an aluminium substrate.
