摘要 <p>A light-scattering film (10) is produced by orienting a birefringent substance (e.g., a birefringent resin or a liquid crystal substance) contained in a resin layer containing a transparent resin (6) and a scattering substance (7) either of which is the birefringent substance. When a linearly polarized light having a vibration direction and a propagation direction in a plane including an axis parallel to the plane of the light-scattering film and an axis in the direction of the film thickness falls on the film face, the transmittance to the incident light traveling straight ahead exhibits a maximum at an angle (e.g., 20-89°) of incidence with respect to the film face; the transmittance to the incident light traveling straight ahead exhibits 0-30 % at the right angles with respect to the film face; and the transmittance of the incident light exhibits 50-100 % at an angle of 40 to 70°. The light-scattering film has an improved directivity in the light scattering characteristics and can improve the brightness of the display face when viewed from the front face even if the light is incident obliquely. Therefore, the light-scattering film is useful when used in combination with a polarizing plate of a liquid crystal device.</p>
