<p>An apparatus and a method for determining the mass of a particle (11) comprised in a fluid where there is means for generating a flow of the fluid. The particle is entrained in the flow and follows a path (10) generally along the flow. A light source (6) forming a beam of light intersects the flow and strikes the paricle, deviating the particle path (12) away from the direction of the flow by the radiation pressure due to the incident light beam. Means for measuring the particle deviation are present and this measurement is used to calculate the mass of the particle (11).</p> |
