<p>The present invention relates to piezoelectric transformer and ballast using the same transformer utilizing piezoelectric and inverse piezoelectric effects, more specifically to high-efficiency piezoelectric transformer and ballast using the same transformer which can obtain a large output current using novel electrode structure and polarization direction. According to the present invention, a piezoelectric transformer comprises a piezoelectric ceramic body having a planar form of circle or ring, first and second electrodes formed adjacent to the top and bottom surface of the piezoelectric ceramic body, the first and second electrodes having the same planar structure as the body and divided to N parts spaced a constant distance each other and the first and second electrodes being plane symmetry with the body. The whole area of the body is polarized as the same direction and an input voltage is applied to N1 of the first electrodes, a negative voltage is applied to N1 of the first electrodes, a negative voltage is applied to all of the second electrodes and a output voltage is obtained through the rest N - N1 of the first electrodes.
