The procedure for the painting of a surface uses at least two storage containers (10,11) from each of which leads a pipe (15,16) to the painting plant (20). The storage containers each contain a colour medium differing from the desired mixed tone, and via a mixing device (30) in the flow path upstream of an application unit the desired colour mix is created and then applied to the surface. More than two, and preferably four storage container may be provided, each holding a medium in a basic colour, and by mixing these the desired colour tone can be created. An Independent claim is included for a plant for the painting of a surface.
