1335411 Corrugating SOC NATIONALE INDUSTRIELLE AEROSPATIALE 19 April 1971 [10 March 1970] 23668/71 Heading B3E A machine for corrugating a thin cylindrical metal shell 1, Fig. 1, comprises a stand 10, at least one pair of forming rollers 2, 3, Fig. 2, connected thereto, a set of bearing rolls 11 to 18 mounted on a frame pivotable about a vertical axis Z-Z<SP>1</SP> passing through the zone of the forming rollers and a guide roller 32 provided on at least one of the bearing rolls to follow the helical corrugation being formed and thereby to cause uniform axial movement of the shell. The shell 1 is welded to provide two transverse steps (5 and 6, Fig. 3, not shown) at the joints and is mounted on a rigid support 7 so that a portion 8 projects to be engaged by the forming rollers 2, 3, Fig. 2. The lower rolls 11-12 and 13-14 are carried by bottom frames 42 and 43 reciprocable in the direction of arrows f4 and f5 and are pivotable about the vertical axis Z-Z<SP>1</SP> to vary the pitch of the helical corrugation. The lower rolls are axially adjusted by hand wheels 24, 25 and 26. The top rolls 15-16 and 17-18 are carried in two top frames 40 and 41 the heights of which are adjustable by a screwed rod 31 and a handle 27. Guide rollers 32 are provided opposite the top rolls 15 to 18. Side rollers 23 mounted on rolls 11 to 14 swivel about pins 29 when fitting or removing the shell. |
