The invention relates to a device for increasing the degree of protection of a commercial plug-in connector. According to the invention, said device is configured in two parts, whose locating part (6) can be inserted into their socket part (8). A collar (42) of the socket part (8) has at least one locking hook (32,34) guided in axially oriented recesses (46,48) of the boot (44) of the locating part (6) and latching with actuatable spring hooks (28,30) of the locating part (6). The locating part (6) has two seals (10, 12) arranged on the front side. Said device not only enhances the degree of protection of a commercial connector to an IP67 protective degree but also substantially improves the behavior against constant, extreme vibrations and shock burden.
