The invention relates to a single or multiple-layered, subduedly colored amorphous film containing as main ingredients a crystallizable, bibenzol-modified thermoplastic material, preferably having an enhanced diethylene glycol and/or polyethylene glycol content, preferably a bibenzol-modified polyester such a bibenzol-modified polyethylene terephthalate, bibenzol-modified polybutylene terephthalate or bibenzol-modified polyethylene naphthalate, the binezolic acid content thereof preferably lying between 1 and 50 percent by weight, and an inorganic white pigment such as TiO2, BaSO4, and/or an inorganic or organic colored pigment such as carbon black, iron oxides and azopigments. The film can also be fitted with flame proofing agents and/or UV stabilizers and/or sealable and/or corona treated. The film is inherently UV stable and has a surface luster higher than 15 and a light transmission of less than 85%. Multi-layered embodiments of said film can be produced by extrusion or coextrusion, wherein the polymers used for the base and cover layers preferably have similar standard viscosities. The film can be functionally coated on one or both sides and is suitable for a plurality of internal and external applications.
