The invention relates to devices that are used to move one bone portion (2) in relation to another bone portion (1) in one direction S along a given axis DELTA . According to the invention, the bone transport device is essentially characterised in that it comprises a support piece (10) which is solidly connected to bone portion (1); a sliding piece (20) which is solidly connected to bone portion (2); a first ratchet/rack (31, 32) system (30) which is mounted in co-operation between the sliding piece (20) and the support piece (10) in such a way that the sliding piece can only move in direction S in relation to the support piece; a control rod (40); springs (50) that are defined between two points (51, 52) which are connected to the support piece (10) and the control rod (40) respectively; and a second ratchet/rack (61, 62) system (60) which is mounted in co-operation between the sliding piece (20) and the control rod (40) in such a way that the sliding piece can only move in relation to the support piece in the opposite direction to the first direction S. The invention is particularly suitable for bone reconstruction devices.
