An animal feed supplement based on a fermentation solution produced by fermentation of organism(s) producing D-pantothenic acid (I), which contains 30 - 95 wt.% free (I) and/or its salts, 0.1 - 15 wt.% total sugar and less than 5 - 50 wt.% protein with respect to dry matter, is new. An Independent claim is also included for the production of an animal feed supplement containing (I) and/or its salts by: (i) fermenting an organism producing (I) in a culture medium containing carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) source(s), without supplying other precursors; and (ii) drying and/or formulating the resultant fermentation solution, without carrying out other working-up stages.
