The corrugated sheet (10) is permanently welded to both long and cross rods (14,15) at right angles to the roadway line and the mat parts (29,30) are hinged together with the sheet parts (11,12) overlapped, the longer sheet part overlapping by two squares of the mat. The sheet has two spaced humped parts at its ends joined by a straight piece and sheet overlapping mat part (29) is further divided so the bottom sheet part is connected to the main sheet part by a lock joint. The center flat part of the sheet lies flat on the mat underside (16). The mat parts are joined by means of a wire spiral (20).
