A functional-fluoropolymer-containing optical material which is an organic composition suitable for use as an optical material for optical communication, etc. It comprises a functional fluoropolymer and rare earth metal ions, wherein the functional fluoropolymer has at least one ketone structure in a side chain and has a maximum value of absorption coefficient of 1 cm<-1> or lower in each of the wavelength ranges of 1,290 to 1,320 nm, 1,530 to 1,570 nm, and 600 to 900 nm, and the rare earth metal ions are ions of at least one member selected from the group consisting of erbium (Er), thulium (Tm), praseodymium (Pr), holmium (Ho), neodymium (Nd), and europium (Eu).
