<p>A magnetic tape with less PES and off track and excellent servo characteristics, wherein at least one layer of magnetic layer is formed on one surface of a non-magnetic support body, a back coat layer is formed on the opposite surface, servo signals for tracking control are recorded in the magnetic layer or back coat layer, and the width of a recording track used at a tape running speed of 4 m/sec or faster is 21 νm or less, and (α/W) x (V/f) is 10/s and/or (α/W) is 0.1 or less where the tape running speed is (V) mm/sec, the amount of edge weave with the frequency of (f) mm present at one tape edge forming a running reference side during tape running or at a tape edge opposite to the running reference side is (α) νm, and the width of the recording track is (W) νm.</p> |
