A recording medium drive device, comprising a holder (16) movably installed on a chassis (5) and holdingly feeding a disk cartridge between an insertion/removal position and an installation position, an eject lever (39) for discharging the disk cartridge from the holder (16), a slider (31) movable in the inserting and discharging directions for the disk cartridge relative to the holder (16), moving the holder (16) to the installation position by the movement of the disk cartridge in the inserting direction, and moving the holder (16) to the insertion/removal position by the movement of the disk cartridge in the discharging direction, and a spring member (45) installed between the eject lever (39) and the slider (31), energizing the eject lever (39) in the direction for discharging the disk cartridge from the holder (16), and energizing the slider (31) in the disk cartridge inserting direction.
