[Also in Divisions B1 and F2] A valve assembly for controlling the discharge of a mixture of materials, e.g. warm shaving lather, from two containers 10 and 50, comprises a tubular nozzle 20, a core 22 within the nozzle and defining therewith a flow passage having a greater flow area at the outlet end than the inlet end, and a valve member 100 controlling mixture flow through the flow passage. The core 22 has helically threaded sections 110 and 112 along its length, the threads having the same lead and the section 110 having more thread starts than the section 112. Projections 124 at the outlet of the nozzle convert the swirling mixture flow into generally axial-flow. To dispense warm shaving lather, the metal container 10 is filled with a soap solution, a reducing agent and a propellant, e.g. halogenated alkane, butane or nitrogen, the flexible low density polyethylene container 50 is filled with an oxidizing agent e.g. hydrogen peroxide, and with the containers inverted the flexible nozzle 20 is displaced angularly to pivot the rigid core 22 to move a portion of the valve member 100 away from the rubber gasket 30 and snap the valve plug 26 from its seat 70.</p> |
