<p>In a cathode-ray tube which displays a color image of a fluorescent pattern of a predetermined shape partially in addition to a monochromatic display by the AC reproduction method, only a desired fluorescent pattern can fluoresce satisfactorily. When an icon image is displayed in an icon display area, a blanking signal (S3) for the iron is generated, and the signal portions corresponding to the fluorescent patterns in the video signal other than the desired one is lowered below the black level. Although the AC reproduction method is adopted, therefore, only a desired fluorescent pattern can fluoresce satisfactorily while suppressing an unnatural phenomenon in which the fluorescent patterns other than the desired one dimly fluoresce.</p> |
