It is intended to provide a process for producing hyaluronic acid or its derivative whereby hyaluronic acid or its derivative can be easily synthesized compared with the capon comb extraction method and the fermentation method having been industrially employed and wherein the product can be easily isolated and purified from the liquid reaction mixture. Namely, a process for producing hyaluronic acid or its derivative characterized by treating an oxazoline derivative with a hyaluronidase.
