A food additive compn., useful for retarding the aging process and protecting the lung tissue from atmospheric pollutants, comprises: (a) a sulphur-contg. amino-acid, (b) selenium, (c) an antioxidant consisting of vit. E or mixts. of vit. E and a synthetic antioxidant lipid, the amount of vit. E present being in excess of that reqd. to form an organo-Se synergistic complex, (d) a cell-membrane stabiliser. It is useable for both man and animals.
