The bow for the folding top of a motor vehicle consists of a flexurally rigid profile formed as a closed hollow section or channel section open on one side. The profile (10) comprises integrated fastening and/or guiding components (52) for a functional component of the vehicle which can be fitted completely or partially in the cavity or recess defined on at least three sides by the profile. The fastening and/or guiding components are formed by a part of the profile located inside the cavity or recess. An Independent claim is included for a motor vehicle and especially a convertible equipped with a folding top.
