Granulated forms of various active ingredients can be prepared with a small amount of a dissolvable polymer oxideas a lubricant for the extrusion process and a binder for the final extrudate. A polyalkylene oxide is preferred and, in the presence of a small amount of solvent, dissolves sufficiently to provide lubricity to the extrusion mixture that the solids can be extruded with little friction and associated local temperature rise thru the extrusion die. Degradation of the active ingredient due to heat is thereby avoided. Subsequent drying removes sufficient residual solvent to provide a granulated product with good storage stability.
