The invention relates to a cutting tool comprising a tool holder (10), which is fitted with a bearing surface (24), a tool insert (12), which is made from sintered material and which is fitted with a base (42) that is designed to co-operate with said bearing surface (24) so that the insert (12) can be positioned on the tool holder (10), and means for fixing (14) the insert on the tool holder. The bearing surface (24) and the base (42) of the inventive tool each have a longitudinally-oriented structure formed by grooves (32, 56) which are disposed in parallel and which are provided with complementary shapes so that one of said structures can be inserted into the other. In order for the insert (12) to be fixed rigidly and securely to the base (10), even without rectifying the latter, one of the structures is provided with a longitudinal concavity such that at least the ends of the grooves (32, 56) of the two structures are in contact with one another.
