The device for bridging level differences when entering and leaving vehicles has a horizontal platform (19) which in relation to the level of the floor (15) of the vehicle is movable upwards to a higher level and also downwards to a lower level. The platform on two oppositely lying side edges has at least one roll-off lock (22,23) which is movable at least between a first approximately horizontal position and a second approximately vertical position. In the vertical position the locks protrude upwards beyond the plane of the platform to prevent a wheelchair rolling away. An Independent claim is included for a procedure for the bridging of level differences when entering and leaving vehicles.
