Use of sunscreen combinations which comprise, as essential constituent, 2-(4-alkoxyanilinomethylene) malonic dialkyl esters as photostable UV filters in cosmetic and pharmaceutical preparations

Photostable filter, for cosmetic and pharmaceutical preparations to protect skin or hair against sunlight, comprises: (A) a UV-A absorber which is a 2-(4-alkoxyanilinomethylene)-malonic acid dialkyl ester; (B) one or more of UV-A and/or UV-B absorbing compounds; and optionally (C) UV absorbers. Photostable filter, for cosmetic and pharmaceutical preparations to protect skin or hair against sunlight, comprises: (A) a UV-A absorber which is a 2-(4-alkoxyanilinomethylene)-malonic acid dialkyl ester of formula (I); (B) one or more of a number of UV-A and/or UV-B absorbing compounds, including: (i) hydroxybenzophenones of formula (II); (ii) diarylbutadienes of formula (III); (iii) 2,4,6-tri-substituted-1,3,5-triazines of formula (IV), (V) or (IX); (iv) bis-(benzotriazole)-substituted bisphenols of formula (VI); (v) benzotriazolyl- and trimethylsiloxyalkyl-substituted phenols of formula (VII); (vi) organosiloxanes of formula (VIIIa) and/or (VIIIb); (vii) 2-ethylhexyl ester of 2-cyano-3,3-diphenyl-acrylic acid of formula (X); (viii) tetrasulfonated 1,4-bis-(benzimidazolyl)benzenes of formula (XI); (ix) bis-resorcyl-ketone of formula (XII).; and optionally (C) UV absorbers. R<1> - R<3> = 1-8C alkyl; R<4> and R<5> = H, 1-12C alkyl or 3-10C cycloalkyl; or NR<4>R<5> = 5- or 6-membered ring; R<6> = H, 1-12C alkyl or 3-10C cycloalkyl; (V<1>) = an allyl ether group of formula (XIII); V<1> = Me or (V<1>); (V<2>) = a group of formula (XIV); V<2> = Me or (V<2>); t = t = up to 100; u = up to 20; and X = H, Na, K, ammonium or triethanolammonium. Provided that when u =is 0, then V<1> = (V<1>) and/or V<2> = (V<2>) and u is 1-20 when V<1> = Me and/or V<2> = Me. An Independent claim is also included for cosmetic and pharmaceutical preparations containing the above combinations for protecting the epidermis and hair from UV of 280-400 nm, the component (A) being (I) (R<1>, R<2>, R<3> are Et) and (B) being (a) (II : R<4>, R<5> are Et and R<6> is hexyl) or (b) (III : R<7>, R<8> are -CH2-C(Me)2) or any of the compounds (IV) - (XII).
