PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charging method, a charger, an electrophotographic method, and an electrophotographic device, which obtain a desired potential by charging with voltage application in a low potential to reduce products by discharge, such as ozone generated from the electrifier and give superior electrostatic chargeability. SOLUTION: With respect to the charging method, which brings a member supported by a conductive body into contact with the surface of a body to be charged which is formed on a support body, and applies a voltage between the surface of the body to be charged and this member to induce positive or negative electric charges on the body to be charged, the migration speed of electric charges having the polarity opposite to that of electric charges induced on the contact face is made higher than the migration speed of electric charges which have the same polarity. With respect to the charger, which brings the member supported by the conductive body into contact with the surface of the body to be charged, which is formed on the support body, and applies a voltage between the surface of the body to be charged and this member to induce positive or negative electric charge on the body to be charged, the migration speed of electric charges having the polarity opposite to that of electric charges induced on the contact face is made higher than the migration speed of electric charges having the same polarity. The electrophotographic method and the electrophotographic device use this charger.
