PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift device capable of improving operability. SOLUTION: When changing the connected state of an automatic transmission, a joy stick 20 is operated from a reference position J0 to 'P', 'R', 'N' or 'D'. When selecting an icon 42 displayed on a display 41, the joy stick 20 is operated from the reference position J0 to 'A1', 'A2', 'A3' or 'A4'. As a result, the automatic transmission or a car navigation system is controlled by a position detection signal from a magnetmetric sensor based on the operation of the joy stick 20, that is, one joy stick 20 has only to be operated when changing the connected state of the automatic transmission and selecting the icon 42. In other words, there is no need to operate means provided in different positions for every operation. Operability can thereby be improved.
