PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waterproof sealing material which displays high waterproofness over a long time and an ease of handling. SOLUTION: This waterproof sealing material comprises self-adhesive layers 11 and 11 formed on at least one of the sides of a non-hydrophilic base material 10 and water-soluble resin coats 12 and 12 formed on the self-adhesive layers 11 and 11. Under this constitution, the waterproof sealing material 1 displays high interface sealing properties due to the eluation of the water-soluble resin coats 12 and 12 forming surface layers and the consequent exposure of the self-adhesive layers 11 and 11 which, in turn, adhere to an area where the sealing material 1 is applied. In addition, the sealing material 1 is non-tacky under a normal condition so that it can be conveniently handled during die-cutting, applying and storing of the sealing material 1. Even when a die-cutting or applying operation is automated, the sealing material 1 is easy to handle, as it does not stick to a cutting die and the like. Further, the sealing material 1 prevents a blocking phenomenon or dust deposition from occurring without the use of a release paper or the like and a troublesome operation to peel the release paper is dispensed with during applying of the sealing material 1.
