PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve releasing performance by making the side where a release subsidiary member exerts a release action into a shape where the nip shape of a fixing roll is taken into consideration, and narrowing the gap between the side where the release subsidiary member exerts the release action and the fixing roll. SOLUTION: In the fixing device, a tabular release subsidiary member whose one end surface is placed close to one fixing member of a pair of fixing members, and which is composed of a metal base body coated with a mold- released layer and assists the release of the recording medium coming out of a nip part from one fixing member is provided at the recording medium outlet side of the nip part. The release subsidiary member is formed by a surface turning to the nip part side with a shape where one end surface is overhung at a central portion along the nip part.
