PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a salivation promoter capable of curing mouth dryness through promoting the secretion of saliva in a given quantity or greater continuously for a long period of time and also capable of enhancing the self-cleaning effect in oral cavity, and to provide a food composition and a composition for oral cavity each containing the above salivation promoter. SOLUTION: This salivation promoter is characterized by comprising at least one plant selected from those belonging to Capparidaceae family and Umbelliferae family and/or extract(s) therefrom.
