摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner amount detecting device capable of a toner amount with accuracy even in a high toner amount area. SOLUTION: This toner amount detecting device comprises a laser diode 11 for emitting irradiating light 12 for irradiating the surface of a photoreceptor 1 carrying a toner image on the surface, a photodiode 14 for detecting the reflected light of the irradiating light 12 emitted from the laser diode 11 from the surface of the photoreceptor 1, a beam splitter 15 for separating the light paths of the irradiating light 12 and the reflected light 13 so that the reflected light 13 reflected from the surface of the photoreceptor 1 in the opposite direction of the same light path as that of the irradiating light 12 emitted from the laser diode 11 onto the surface of the photoreceptor 1, is made incident to the photodiode 14 via a light path different from that of the irradiating light 12 after having traced halfway in the opposite direction of the same light path as that of the irradiating light 12.
