PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical write type recording medium which has high reliability and high manufacture yield and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: This optical write type recording medium is constituted by stacking a transparent electrode 40, a display layer 8, optical switching layers 5 to 7, and an electrode between a substrate 1 and a transparent substrate 2. The transparent electrode 40 between both the electrodes does not have its electrode area at an end parts of the opposite substrate 2. Further, the other electrode has no electrode area at the end part of the opposite substrate.
