PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer recording method and a thermal transfer recorder in which linear density characteristics can be attained and a color image can be recorded with excellent gradation while reducing recording energy for forming a dot representing a highest density. SOLUTION: At the time of recording an image by a thermal transfer recording method employing a recording medium 1, a thermal transfer ink ribbon 5 and a thermal head 15, odd heaters and even heaters in the thermal head 15 are driven alternately line by line with a conduction amount dependent on the density data of a recording pixel corresponding to each heater, and a heater adjacent to the conducting heater is driven such that the temperature of an ink layer in the thermal transfer ink ribbon 5 corresponding to that heater increases to a predetermined temperature lower than a transferable temperature. |
