PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a nonwoven fabric sheet which is thin, has excellent processability and is obtained by using a CMC consisting essentially of silicon carbide fiber. SOLUTION: This nonwoven fabric sheet of silicon carbide fiber is characterized by comprising a silicon carbide fiber having 1-10 mm fiber length, a carbon fiber having 1-10 mm fiber length and a thermally decomposable organic binder. The sheet is impregnated with a solution in which a resin is dissolved or dispersed, dried to remove a solvent, the dried sheet is heated in a vacuum or in an inert gas and the resin is carbonized to form a carbon layer having 0.2-5 μm thickness on the surface of the silicon carbide fiber. |
